Kruise, Schweitzer to Speak

With all the angling opportunities in Rocky Mountain National Park, it’s easy to overlook the excellent—and often less crowded—fishing just to the south in the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area (IPWA). But Steve Schweitzer and Mike Kruise have tramped miles of trails to explore and document the fishing destinations in this area. Now Steve and Mike will present a detailed overview to Alpine Anglers and guests at their upcoming meeting, July 17th at 6:30 P.M. at the Estes Park American Legion Hall.

Their book, A Fly Fishing Guide to Colorado’s Indian Peaks Wilderness Area, is based on the same boots-on-the-ground research that made Schweitzer’s earlier book, A Fly Fishing Guide to Rocky Mountain National Park, an essential handbook for many local fly casters. It details more than 100 destinations—all a short drive from Estes Park—and includes detailed trail profiles and fishing tips from the experts.

Steve Schweitzer has written for newspapers and periodicals including “The Wall Street Journal” and “Fly Fisherman Magazine.” He’s been part of the fly fishing retail and conservation industry for more than 25 years.  Mike Kruise is co-owner of the Laughing Grizzly Fly Shop in Longmont and has been a professional fly-fishing guide and instructor for more than 12 years.

The meeting is Wednesday, July 17th at 6:30 P.M. at the American Legion Hall, 850 North Saint Vrain Avenue in Estes Park. Join us to learn about this exciting area.
