Al Ritt to Present at June Chapter Meeting

For fly fishers, nothing beats seeing the head of a trout break the surface of a stream and engulf a floating dry fly. At the June 19th Alpine Anglers meeting, fly fishing pro Al Ritt will tell us how to see it more often. The meeting is open to the public, so join us for this exciting presentation on dry fly fishing.

Al is a well-known angler, fly tyer, and writer. He hosts destination fishing excursions for trout, steelhead, and saltwater flats species. He’s a regular contributor to “Fly Tyer Magazine” and other publications, and his book 25 Best Most Versatile Flies, published by Stonefly Press, has become a bible for anglers in the western U.S. and Canada. His fly patterns are tied and distributed by Montana Fly Company. When Al isn’t on the water, he’s the brand manager for Peak Fishing, a manufacturer of fly tying vises and equipment.

The meeting will also feature U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service biologist Chris Kennedy. Chris has lead efforts to protect and restore native trout in Rocky Mountain National Park and was a major contributor to the research that identified the last remaining population of Greenback Cutthroat Trout in the world. Chris often needs volunteers to assist in fisheries surveys using electro-fishing and “hook and line sampling.” He’ll describe this summer’s field work plans and upcoming opportunities for volunteer work.

The meeting is Wednesday, June 19th from 6:30 until 8:00 P.M. at the American Legion Hall in Estes Park. The public is invited, so join us for some fun, a chance to snag a bargain at the silent auction, and some great info on fishing in our area.
